About SWFJGA

SWFJGA is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and has been providing a venue for tournament golf for developing players for over 35 years.   All of our summer tournaments are flight based on level of play.  Ourgoal is to provide juniors with the opportunity to golf under tournament conditions while learning the Rules of Golf, building individual character, integrity, sportsmanship and meeting new friends.

Our summer program consists of 7 tournaments starting the first week after the end of the school year.  There is a 9-hole tournament series for players ages 8-12, these  are played on local executive courses.   The 13-18 year olds play 18-hole events at  various golf courses throughout Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties and yardages are set based on the level of play and age.   Our tournaments take place on Mondays and start promptly at 8:00am and are shotgun starts.

We have a college scholarship program that rewards our graduating members and past players.  You must have been a member for at least 3 years and played in a minimum of 3 events each year in order to be eligible.  Our goal is to award each eligible player a minimum of a $1,000.00 scholarship as a graduating senior and a $250.00 scholarship after their second year of college.  This year we passed the $200,000.00 mark in scholarships awarded to our playing members.

Our scholarship program funds are received through various avenues.  Funds are raised through Tournaments like the Adult/Juniors and Nolen Henke/ Patty Berg Junior Master and Pro-Am and from generous donations from individuals and organizations like the PGA Professionals of Southwest Florida and The South Florida PGA Foundation.  Without the continued support of Cypress Lake Country Club and so many other local golf courses we could not be able to award these scholarships on an annual basis and provide a great environment for our area junior golfers.

SWFJGA is an organization run by a volunteer board of directors with the help and assistance of volunteer parents at the events.  Our organization has been around so long we must remember to thank all of the past board members and volunteers that have been instrumental in keeping the program on a sound footing.  With the dedication and tireless efforts of so many whose names we will never know, this organization has touched thousands of kids in our community and continues to provide a venue to support the wonderful lessons achieved through the game of golf.
