The SWFJGA would like to invite all parties to find out just what the
Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association is all about. This site also
provides an avenue for those who are members to keep up on recent
developments.
The SWFJGA is celebrating its 34th year of accomplishments. The
programs and goals are designed to provide our Juniors with the opportunity
to experience golf under tournament conditions and at the same time, the
Juniors are learning the Rules of Golf, building individual character,
integrity, meeting new friends and developing sportsmanship. All of this,
while having fun! The program runs for three months out of the summer
season. There are seven weekly tournaments that are held on Mondays at
different locations throughout the five counties served by SWFJGA. Due to
the devotion and generosity of the local golf courses and the support of all
the Golf Professionals, the Juniors will have an opportunity to play some of
the finest golf courses in Southwest Florida.
The Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association is extremely proud of its
prestigious scholarship program offered to its Juniors. To date, our
scholarship programs have assisted over 200 Juniors in achieving their goal
of attending the college of their choice. Southwest Florida Junior Golf
Association has given away more than $150,000.00 over the last 18 years and
we look forward to assisting other Juniors over the many years to come.
Juniors that participate in the scholarship program must have played within
the organization for a minimum of three years and participated in at least
three SWFJGA events in their senior year. All participants must carry a
minimum 3.0 grade point average or better.
The only responsibility of the Junior is to file the required paperwork with
the South West Florida Junior Golf Association. In the year 2006, the
Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association was proud to present to 11 Junior
Golfers, with their initial scholarships, which totaled $11,000.
Our scholarship program funds are received through various avenues, the
majority of which are raised by organizing fund raising tournaments such as
our annual Adult/Junior Tournament and by working closely with local
businesses and other organizations for donations.
We also organize and supervise the Nolan Henke/ Patty Berg Invitational Golf
Tournament. This is one of our biggest fund-raisers and social events of
the year. All monies received from this event go directly to the Junior
Scholarship Program. This three-day Tournament is sanctioned by Golf Week
which gives points to the winners. The Nolan Henke/Patty Berg tournament
features a Pro-Am golf fund raiser.
Various types of sponsorship, from tee signs to luncheon sponsorships, are
available for this great event. Anyone interested in assisting us with this
wonderful event may contact us directly. All assistance is always very much
appreciated.
Please take time to browse through our web site. If you have any questions
or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. We sincerely hope you
will enjoy your Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association's program.

Bob Burgess
